THE GLOBAL RETAIL THEFT BAROMETER 2010


The TENTH international Survey of retail crime and shrinkage from the Centre for Retail Research.

The Global Retail Theft Barometer is by far and away the largest survey in the world into retail shrinkage and crime.

GRTB 2010 is the fourth Global survey and the tenth study in the European series (previously it was the European Retail Theft Barometer). The GRTB, which is sponsored by Checkpoint Systems, Inc., is used by retail corporations across the world to evaluate trends and to benchmark themselves against other companies.

GRTB2010 will report on

  • retail crime trends internationally
  • assesses how well retailers in 2010 have combated crime and losses associated with the recession
  • quantifies security/loss prevention spending this year.
  • Special reports on: health and beauty, food, and clothing/apparel.

Questionnaires: Questionnaires are being sent out to 4,000 senior executives of retail corporations in 43 different countries.

Countries included:

Every year we include new countries. This year the new country is Russia.

North America: the U.S. and Canada

Latin America: Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico

Asia-Pacific: China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore

Africa: Morocco and South Africa
